About ILA-ILD

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a group of more than 200 lung conditions characterized by inflammation and scarring of the tissues around the air sacs (alveoli). This scarring, or fibrosis makes the lungs stiff and less able to expand and contract, leading to difficulty breathing, reduced oxygen intake and loss of quality of life. Interstitial lung abnormalities (ILAs) are incidental findings on CT scans that reveal changes in the lungs, potentially indicative of underlying interstitial lung diseases (ILDs). Incidental findings discovered during imaging for unrelated issues can play a critical role in the early detection of interstitial lung disease (ILD), including pulmonary fibrosis (PF). Leveraging these findings strategically can shift diagnosis timelines from late-stage to early-stage, opening more treatment options and potentially better outcomes.
